All young adults possess natural abilities and capacities, despite of their upbringing; yet, not all of them have equal access to the necessary resources and support networks. We began our endeavor, at Alabama Gem City Preparation, to close this divide for all young people about 19 years ago because of this. By generating field studies, advocating for policy changes, and raising public awareness of the benefits of mentoring for youth, we support the community in creating high-quality mentoring connections with people who reside locally and surrounding counties near us . We spark and bring together a wide, multi-sector movement that supports deep connections and expands opportunities for youth everywhere they go—from the classroom to the workplace and beyond.
